- Measure your dog from the base of the neck to the base of the tail (this is the length they typically lie stretched).
- Compare that length to the mat's longest dimension above. If your dog tends to stretch out, choose a mat slightly longer (about 2–4 in) than their measured length.
- For dogs that curl up, you can match the mat's shorter dimension to the dog's curled length plus a couple inches for comfort.
