- Measure your pet’s widest point (usually the shoulders or hips) — that’s the width to compare with the first number (W).
- Measure from the floor to the top of the shoulders (or the tallest point while standing) — that’s the height to compare with the second number (H).
- Allow at least 1.5–2 inches of clearance in both width and height so your pet can pass through comfortably; if your pet is broad or overweight, choose the next size up.
- The third number is the frame thickness (depth). Make sure your door or panel can accommodate that thickness when cutting the opening.
